productronica: Handheld DMMs boast 800 hours battery life

Posted By : Mick Elliott

A series of rugged handheld digital multimeters (DMMs) was unveiled by Keys gith Technologies at productronica this morning (Nov 10). The U1280 Series and U1240C Series handheld DMMs boast 800 hours of battery life, are dust proof and water proof to IP67 certification and butterfingered engineers will be pleased to note it can survive being dropped from up to 10 feet. The DMMs are also rated to CAT Iv 600V and CAT III 1000V.

With 60,000-count display resolution and 0.025 percent accuracy, the U1280 Series is Keysight’s highest performance handheld DMMs.

The U1240C Series 4-digit handheld DMMs come with 10,000-count display resolution and 0.09% accuracy, and provide a broad range of measurement functions for installation and maintenance work in industrial facilities. Unique features include low pass filter, ZLOW and harmonic ratio.

The low pass filter function eliminates high frequency noise and harmonics, ensuring accurate measurement from a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and ZLOW provides low impedance mode to eliminate stray voltages. The harmonic ratio function gives an indication of the presence of harmonics.

For advanced functions and data logging capabilities, engineers can use the Handheld Meter Logger software. This PC software allows users to automatically log data in a trend plot or table format, or to manually log each measurement with a touch of a button. Subsequently, users can convert the logged data into various test report formats, including customisation for specific customers.

For remote monitoring, the U1280 Series and U1240C Series are compatible with the Keysight remote link solution, enabling safer and more convenient testing in hazardous environments.
